Kytäjä Club Tour - overview2012 is the inaugural year of the Kytäjä Club Tour (KCT), a season long “Tour” for Kytäjä members where players of all skill levels have a chance to be successful.
The idea of this tour is reminiscent of the “FedEx Cup”on the PGA Tour or the “Race to Dubai” on the European Tour ... competitors in competitions at Kytäjä can amass KCT points based on their performances during the season. The competition committee maintains an Order of Merit list of all players who have scored KCT points and publishes that Order of Merit on this website after every event. The top thirty (30) players in the Order of Merit at the end of the season qualify for the exciting finale, the Kytäjä Club Tour Championship (the "Tour Championship"), which is played in September. Most of the Kytäjä club competitions count towards the Order of Merit, as well as selected open competitions played at Kytäjä courses. A list of the 2012 KCT events can be seen below. Participating in any of the KCT events automatically enters the player into the KCT, any player who does not want to participate may inform the KCT organisers and will be removed from the KCT Order of Merit. Welcome to the Kytäjä Club Tour, this is going to be a lot of fun! |
KCT rulesThe detailed rules of the KCT can be seen from this document, currently only available in Finnish.

The 2012 KCT event calendar
Earning KCT pointsIn the KCT events which are for members only
- the top 10 players or groups in the event earn KCT points - in the Club Championship (the flagship event of the year) the KCT points awarded are increased by 50%. - In competitions where you play in teams (e.g. of 2, 3 or 4 players) then the team wins the KCT points and any points earned are split equally between the players in the team. In the KCT events which are played at Kytäjä but open to members from all clubs - the points are distributed in the same way as club competitions to the top 10 players in the event. - no KCT points are awarded to visitors from other clubs, if a player from another club finishes in a position that would earn KCT point then those points are null and void - they do not carry over to the next player. - if the event contains more than one series then the KCT points on offer for the event are split equally between the series but, any Kytäjä player winning his or her series gains a winners bonus of 20 KCT points The amount of KCT points available for each series in each open competition will be made visible in advance once the format of each competition is known. |
How the points are allocated! The table below indicates how the points are allocated depending on the nature of the competition and your finishing position.
Each player may play in as many or as few KCT events as they choose during the season. The scores from a maximum of 15 events are counted for each player in the Order of Merit of which a maximum of 5 (plus another one for the kuukausikilpailu final standings) can be from the kuukausikilpailu. If a player scores KCT points in more than 15 events then only his/her best 15 events are counted.

The Tour Championship
The top 30 players in the Order of Merit at the end of the KCT season (i.e. after the Kytäjä Trophy in September 2012) qualify for the Tour Championship where the eventual winner of the KCT is decided.
The Tour Championship is an 18 hole strokeplay handicap competition.
The Order of Merit is reset for the Tour Championship so that each of the players still has a chance to win. This makes for a very exciting end to the KCT!

While everyone has a mathematical possibility to win, only the top 5 have their destiny in their own hands - if they win the Tour Championship they win the whole KCT!
Players outside the top 5 need a favourable combination of results in order to be the overall winner... but it is still very possible as was seen in last years FedEx Cup (using the same points system) where Bill Haas rose from no-25 in the rankings to claim the FedEx cup with an amazing play-off win in the Tour Championship. His up and down from the water hazard in the playoff must rank as one of the best ever, given the circumstances. Lets hope that the KCT also manages to generate amazing shots and great excitement which continues until the last putt has fallen in the Tour Championship. |
